As a percussionist, having no drums, no percussion instruments available in a new city when I was starting my MFA in Chicago. I picked up the fluorescent light tubes from a piece, Simon Loffler's b, that I played before, and I began to experiment with them for performances. From using audio jack to transform myself into an antenna to using coil pick up as well as from using foot switch to using relay to control the light. My experiment has led to many other fluorescent light tubes instrument.
