No.4 is a noise concert platform/instrument developed to explore our body’s relationship to larger-scale instruments and intensity both visuallyl and sonically. Musicians will be in a cube built by completely fluorescent light tubes (8’ x 8’ x 8’). The light cube is an instrument, and the musicians will be using DIY controllers and computer to control each individual light tube that structures the light cube. DIY electronics will be used by the musicians to pick up the electromagnetic noise generated by the lights. Musicians will also move inside, as well as outside of the cube, and make contact with the light tubes. By touching, grabbing, or sliding the light tube, our body becomes part of the circuit and also interferes with the light, causing the sound to change.
